Arrest warrants issued for the capture of 110 undocumented immigrants. One of them identified as Phil Gordon, the namesake of the mayor of Phoenix.
Phil Gordon, a British citizen, who is found to be illegally in the United States, was arrested by constables of Sheriff Joe Arpaio together with 109 other immigrants who had arrest warrants issued for them for a variety of offenses.
In a coordinated operation with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency, Arpaio upheld the continuation of deporting undocumented immigrants to their home countries because they represent a costly economic burden for his office.
Of the total number of detainees, 98 percent were citizens of Hispanic origin, however, one was identified from Bosnia and one more from England.
In a press conference, it was indicated that keeping these criminals in Maricopa County jails represented a daily cost that fluctuates between $4.21 to $21.00 per person.
