First Hispanic in the nation receives Signal Person certification

OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma – Adrian Claudio, Flintco, Inc. assistant superintendent is the first Hispanic in the nation to receive the signal person certification. A signal person is responsible for directing crane operators from the ground to safely move a load from one place to another. Claudio was recently certified after taking the Signal Person Certification Examination at Flintco’s Oklahoma City office.

Claudio, born in Tlacuitapa, Jalisco in Mexico, has lived in Oklahoma for 18 years and began working at Flintco as a carpenter 10 years ago. He worked his was up to assistant superintendent and currently works at the Norman RegionalHospital jobsite.

“It’s really an honor to be the first Hispanic in the nation because I get to be the grandfather of safety, and a great example to those around me, especially my co-workers who are also Hispanic,” said Claudio.

In light of the increase in crane-related accidents, Flintco is finding value in training its employees who work with crane operators. This year, the United States has seen a significant increase in crane-related accidents and fatalities than in previous years, with 401 accidents resulting in 217 fatalities, according to CraneAccidents.com.
